Deputy Minister of Rural Development and Rehabilitation signed the contracts of several public service projects in Herat on Monday, according to the officials from the Ministry of Rural Development and Rehabilitation.
The projects would be implemented through development councils in the districts of Kurakh, Kohsan, Ghoriyan, Guzrah, Zinda Jan, Kashk and Rubat Sangi.
According to the reports, the projects include construction of a bridge, consolidation of canals; reconstruction of roads, water wells, hand water-pumps, irrigation wells; establishment of hydroelectric projects and vocational training projects for women.
Herat, being one of Afghanistan’s important provinces, has recently witnessed the opening of several public service projects.
Mohammad Tariq Esmati, Deputy Funded by Italy, the projects cost more than USD 64, 752,000.
Deputy Minister Mohammad Tariq Esmati said that the projects, funded by Italy, cost more than USD 64,752,000.
“The implementation of these projects would help in bringing up the standard of living of Herat residents,” said Mr. Esmati.
Member of Parliament Nazir Ahmad Hatqi said that with the execution of these projects environmental problems of about 13,000 households would be resolved.
According to the surveys by the ministry, Herat has been granted with more than 4,500 public service projects since the past decade. The projects collectively have cost about 3 billion AFN.
