Nangarhar car dealers called of their hunger strike on Tuesday.
The car dealers first went on strike on June 3 against decision of the Cabinet on disassembling and selling parts of vehicles awaiting legal documents.
The car dealers’ union decided to remain on strike till the government retracts its “cruel” decision.
Their strike was called off after when President Karzai promised to look into his Cabinet’s decision after the Tokyo conference.
The dealers resumed their strike three days ago, as they were still waiting on government’s response. At least 10 protesting dealers fell unconscious and were provided medical assistance by a team of doctors.
The strikers wound up their protest camp in Jalalabad, the provincial capital, after Governor Gul Agha Sherzai phoned President Karzai, who agreed to meet representatives of the dealers, the governor’s spokesman said.
