Low-Value Notes are Valid- Confirms the Central Bank

Da Afghanistan Bank, the Central Bank of Afghanistan, rejected rumors of low-denomination banknotes declared as invalid by the Bank.

Rumors had it that the Central Bank has declared small-valued notes as invalid due to which phone card vendors and some people refused to accept small-value currency notes.

Moneychangers had confirmed the rumors that the Central Bank itself was not accepting the low-denomination currency notes. And according to sources, at the Shazada Money Market, moneychangers bought 1,000 afs currency against 800 afs.

Da Afghanistan Bank declared on Saturday that rumors do not hold any truth and the bank had not mdae any decision about the low-denomination notes. The bank has a large amount of such notes in its reserves and will allow its circulation, if need be.

Legal action could be taken against anyone rejecting the currencies.
