Let the CEOs take the place of Generals in Afghanistan- India External Affairs Minister

Speaking on the inauguration of Investment Summit on Afghanistan in Delhi, External Affairs Minister S M Krishna said that foreign investment and domestic private sector development can prevent ‘political or security vacuum’ from happening.

The Investment Summit brought together companies from various countries across the globe to explore investment opportunities in Afghanistan. The Summit was attended by Afghan Foreing Minister Zalmai Rassoul and officials and businessmen from 33 countries, including Pakistan, China, Russia, the US and Iran.

Minister Rassoul called insecurity the major hindrance on the way of creating a safe field for investment.

“Let the grey suits of company executives take the place of olive green or desert brown fatigues of soldiers; and CEOs, the place of Generals” and added “that there should be something productive in its place,” said Krishna in response to concern over insecurity after 2014.
