A widespread anti-Japan protest has been staged across China against Japan’s deal to buy a chain of disputed islands in Ease China Sea from their private Japanese owner.
The resource rich islands, known as Diaoyu in China and Senkaku in Japan, have been a litigious issue between the two nations.
The protestors have been targeting Japan made products, demonstrating their detestation of Tokyo’s agreement to purchase the islands.
Two of Panasonic factories have been attached in China, and they will remain shut until 18 September.
On Monday, the Bloomberg news agency reported that Canon had also suspended operations three of its factories in China until 18 September.
There have been reports of a Toyota dealership in China being damaged during the demonstrations.
“We are definitely seeing that Japanese companies are being directly affected by the protests,” Shaun Rein of China Market Research Group
