Building of Dam and Zone Construction of Amu River in Kunduz

Minister of Energy and Water Mohammad Ismail Khan during his visit to Kunduz province entrusted the operation of two EU-funded construction projects to the people.

“Water dam in the district of Khan Abad with a cost of 12m Euros and zone construction of Amu River with a cost of 5m Euros are completed and ready to be used,” said Minister Khan.

Several other infrastructure projects were undertaken in the area during the Minister’s previous visits to the province.

The construction of water dam in the district of Khan Abad will provide water to 35,000 meters of irrigation fields.

The Minister pledged to the residents of Imam Sahib, Ali Abad, and Qala Zal of Kunduz province that they will be granted with electricity in the earliest opportunity.

This comes after a number of Kunduz province residents warned local officials that if their demands for electricity are not met, they will damage the power base that imports electricity from neighboring countries.

The majority of electricity in the northern regions of the country are imported from neighboring countries.
